Laura Lee Boice, Therapist Austin, TxWelcome! Hope and progress… that’s my desire for everyone that sits down with me. Whether it’s your first time talking to a therapist or you’ve sought help before, you’ll be a partner in the process with me.

My approach is to create an accepting, supportive and non-judgmental partnership in order to help my clients discover their strengths, inner resources and to achieve a deeper understanding of who they are.  This helps them to overcome or more effectively deal with such problems as anxiety, depression, anger, stress, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

I take a cognitive behavioral approach and engage my clients on a very personal level to understand their unique backgrounds, difficulties and expectations for therapy.  We work together to identify possible self-defeating thought patterns or unconscious defenses that might be getting in the way of their natural capacity for satisfaction in all areas of life.

Prior to going into private practice 15 years ago, I spent four years at St. David’s hospital in the brain trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and amputation units. I also worked for FEMA/state government and I’m skilled in working with people coping with tremendous loss.

I have extensive experience and training in crisis counseling through FEMA, including Victim Services Regional Critical Response Team training and International Critical Incident Stress Foundation work. I currently work as a volunteer on the Texas Critical Response Team and the City of Austin Disaster-Terrorism Victim Assistance Team.

Contact me or schedule a therapy session online. I look forward to sitting down with you.
